The Babel Center for Civilizational and Historical Studies hosted a seminar presented by researcher Dr. Nadia Jassim Kazem Al-Shammari titled "The Role of Diplomacy in Activating German Foreign Policy 1936–1939: A Historical Study." Dr. Al-Shammari emphasized that diplomacy serves as a vital tool in realizing a nation s foreign policy, acting as the language of dialogue and peace, far removed from the specter of wars.
In this historical exploration, German diplomacy s primary goal was to prevent the formation of a European front opposing Nazi Germany s ambitions in building a formidable army. This involved incorporating minorities residing in neighboring European countries to achieve German unity and expanding beyond national borders to establish what is known as the "vital space." Ultimately, this aimed at dismantling the clauses of the Treaty of Versailles. Dr. Al-Shammari elucidated the challenges encountered in her research, particularly the difficulty in translating German sources and documents, requiring language proficiency. Consequently, she relied on Arabic, translated, and English sources.
